Dog Mom Adventures:

My eyes are on you. My nose is on the ground. On your scent. My shadow who walks with me. We are best friends. Every step you take I will follow.

I love the playfulness of your spirit and your big brown eyes. I love your ear that perks up as you listen to my sweet song I sing.

I love you sweet girl.

Trying to build my community. Please use this space to build knowledge and community. Rules no bashing people and their training methods.

I'm a trainer and a follower of Training Between The Ears methodology.

I'm a dog walker and am interested in building a safe space for independent dog walkers. To create connections as well as build a network. Where we can build our skills and bounce ideas with clients dogs.

Midweek lets start your inspiration with your dog. It's cold and slippery. What a way to reinvigorate your week.

Five ways to get you and your dog day going:

  1. Set a routine of 10 minutes a day of focused play

  2. Walks are the highest reward utilize training moments by use the walk as a reward

  3. Be present and breathe

  4. Create engagement through carrying there meals

  5. Pick up all their toys and don’t allow free choice access

Dog parents:

Wanting a well behaved dog listening, going on walks or playing fetch is great exercise but don't just lean on that. Challenge them with impulse control. Before leaving the house, wait for them to calm down. Whether they sit or lie down. Put the leash and collar on, don't let them get up until you give them a release word “Break”, “Ok”, or “Free”. When you open any door that leads to a walk and they drag you out. Work on getting them to make eye contact and say “let's go” .

When you are looking for a dog walker: Look at what they offer. Dogs need consistency and if you can have a relationship with the dog walker and communicate about what your methods of walks are vice versa. Communication is key to having a well behaved dog for the two of you.

Most importantly take the time to build a working relationship with your dog walker. Also be open to suggestions from us, the dog walker. We all want the dog's best interest at heart.

Dog Walkers:

From Rogers Park, What are some struggles you are having? What are your methods or practices? Do you wish you had more education?

Dog Walkers especially independent ones. Have you struggled with feeling disconnected from a community? Ever wanted to bounce ideas off with a community of fellow dog walkers. Ever wanted or needed advice on handling clients' dogs. Do you struggle with walking clients' dogs? What if I could help you out through What I have learned as a dog walker and build connections with other dog walkers.

Let's come together and begin a network.
